FEMM™

What Is FEMM™?

FEMMstands for Fertility Education and Medical Management. As a FEMM Educator, my role is to provide health and fertility education in basic anatomy, physiology, ovulation as a sign of health, cycle awareness, cyclical variations, and understanding and managing fertility health.

FEMM education empowers you to observe and chart your cycle through the observation of your cyclical biomarkers. FEMM focuses on 4 key cyclical hormones. Charting informs you of the changing patterns of these hormones, such as oestrogen and progesterone in your body. You will discover that ovulation is an important sign of health and how to identify this event in your cycle. With FEMM charting, you will join a group of just 3% of the world’s women and cyclical beings who understand this cyclic hormonal interplay and are empowered to manage their health and fertility! FEMM education is intended to support you wherever you are in your cyclical and reproductive continuum.

FEMM education is a science based practice that can support the deeper inquiry into your cyclical nature and womb wisdom, as an act of remembrance of who you are at essence, as always whole, sacred, and wildly-alive.

FEMM Informs…

Women’s and cyclical beings health decisions from puberty to menopause and beyond, should be informed by an understanding of the healthy functioning of their bodies, and observations of their own cycle patterns.

Informed choice is a central component of healthcare and family planning. Informed choice means making a health decision after learning about and considering all the options and information available.

FEMM supports you to make informed, empowered decisions about your health. You deserve to understand how your body works. FEMM education enables informed choice by providing you with information that is scientifically grounded, unbiased, complete and comprehensible.

FEMM Educates…

FEMM educates women and cyclical beings in how to monitor hormonal activity and identify ovulation, so that they can make informed decisions in managing both their health and their fertility.

FEMM educated women and cyclical beings are informed participants in their own health care, and can partner with their FEMM teacher and with medical professionals to identify any problems and solutions.

FEMM understands the central role of reproductive endocrinology in the management of cyclical health. FEMM education aims to empower women and cyclical beings in the achievement of their health and reproductive goals by helping them gain a better understanding of their biology and monthly cycles.

Hormone Health

Organs produce and secrete a variety of specific signal chemicals called hormones.

Hormones travel through the bloodstream and act as messengers, carrying information from one organ to another. In response to information received, the organs adjust their activity. This process of communication maintains harmony in the body. When organs loose their ability to communicate properly, they malfunction, causing dis-ease.

Hormones regulate every system in the body. Reproductive and overall health depends on optimal hormone function.

Hormones And Your Cycle

Your cycles are managed by hormonal communication between your brain and reproductive organs.

Reproductive health affects the health of the entire body. Reproductive health is controlled by hormones.

FEMM charting focuses on patterns of 4 major hormones. (FSH, LH, Oestrogen and Progesterone). All 4 of these hormones have to work in concert with each other and reach sufficient levels at certain moments to trigger the healthy functioning of each subsequent hormone.

Ovulation is a vital sign of health, so a healthy cycle is an ovulatory cycle. Balanced and healthy hormone function is vital to reproductive and general health.

Understanding Hormonal Biomarkers…

In FEMM education, you discover how to observe and track your cyclical biomarkers, patterns and changes. Biomarkers are the body’s vital signs. Just as heart-rate, blood pressure, and temperature are indicators of the body’s general health, reproductive biomarkers are indicators of the health of the reproductive system.

Biomarkers define the phases of a cycle. From the beginning of a new cycle and unstimulated ovarian activity, to rapid hormonal changes approaching ovulation, through to the stability of the rest of the cycle.

In FEMM education, you become aware of changing levels of the hormones oestrogen and progesterone because of their effects on the body, particularly the uterus and cervix.

Oestrogen stimulates the lining of the uterus (the endometrium) to build up, and the glands of the cervix to produce fluid, stretchy, clear and slippery mucus. Progesterone causes the lining of the uterus to stabilise, and the cervix to produce thick and dense mucus.

Hormone Insufficiency…

Hormone insufficiency can lead to health problems. Engaging with and monitoring your cycle enables recognition and early treatment of gynecologic, endocrine, metabolic and infectious disorders. When hormones are imbalanced or at insufficient levels, you may experience:

  • Bleeding Disorders

  • Pain

  • Infertility

  • Irregular Cycles

  • PCOS -Polycystic Ovarian Syndromme

  • Significant Mood Changes and Anxiety

  • PMS, Anemia, Acne, Weight gain/loss, hirsutism, Migraines

  • Thyroid Disfunction

  • Increased Issues with existing conditions such as Endometriosis/Adenomyosis

  • Other Chronic Pelvic Conditions and Symptoms

  • General Health Dysregulation, Sleep Disorders, Stress Issues, Histamine and Allergy Issues, Inflammatory Auto-Immune Responses

  • Natural Changes In The Reproductive Continuum That May Need Support

FEMM™ Education Sessions

  • 1: FEMM™ & YOUR HEALTH

DISCOVER HOW HORMONES INFLUENCE YOUR HEALTH AND HOW TO CHART YOUR HORMONAL ACTIVITY (90-MINS)

Learn the parts and function of reproductive anatomy, and the physiology of ovulation - understanding the critical role of hormones in the cycle. Hormones from the brain and ovaries affect the health of the reproductive organs and the entire body. Observable biomarkers allow women/cyclical beings to identify hormonal changes, key cycle events such as ovulation, and other indicators of health and fertility. Participants are taught the method of FEMM charting through observing and recording these biomarkers. The session concludes with charting exercises.

  • 2: FEMM™ EXPERT

LEARN HOW TO IDENTIFY HEALTHY PATTERNS OR HEALTH PROBLEMS (90-MINS)

Discover how you can understand the cycle, both its biomarkers and the underlying hormonal activity, as an indicator of your overall health. You are taught the phases of the cycle with an emphasis on the time of ovulation, the dominant hormonal activity in each phase, and what biomarker observations within each phase are necessary for a woman/cyclical being to be considered healthy. Attention is given to the understanding of the cycle as a holistic fertile process, which is fundamental to understanding cycle variations. The session includes analysis of various cycle types, including those of health concern. Exercises, Q&A, and case studies accompany this session.

  • 3: FEMM™ FAMILY PLANNING

DISCOVER HOW YOU CAN MANAGE YOUR FERTILITY (90-MINS)

You are invited to learn the principles of FEMM™ Family Planning. The session includes a review of reproductive physiology, the dominant reproductive hormones, and the key stages in, and differences between, bodies in fertility throughout reproductive life. With regard to family planning, the key event in a woman’s/cyclical being’s cycle is ovulation, and so participants learn to relate cycle biomarkers to ovulation and their fertility. Primary biomarkers are oestrogenic cervical fluid and the surge of the luteinizing hormone (LH) just prior to ovulation. Participants apply this knowledge to identifying ovulation and fertility in variable cycle types. Exercises, Q&A, and case studies accompany this session. Partners are welcome in this session for shared education.

FEMM™ & Medical Management

FEMM™collaborates with the RHRI (Reproductive Health Research Institute) in the training of FEMM™ Medical Management providers. RHRI conducts new research in women’s cyclical health, with a particular focus on reproductive endocrinology. FEMM™-educated women and cyclical beings can partner with medical professionals in identifying health problems and choosing the best treatment options, on the basis of having “the understanding of the information being provided.” As a FEMM™ educator, I can support you to access the Medical Management team for advice, support, diagnostics and treatment where necessary.

I work with a wide range of sexual and pelvic health issues, however, I specialise in working with those that have experienced sexual trauma and subsequent pelvic pain and dysfunction. I believe that healing sexual trauma, shame and pelvic pain is blood, breath and bone work. To come home to your body, sexuality, and pelvic temple is a mythic, poetic and somatic journey. It is the slow, compassionate and full sensory remembrance of your original essence as always whole, sacred, and wildly alive.

Connect with me and discover which somatic sexuality, holistic pelvic care or bodywork therapy is best suited to your needs.

Your sacred remembrance awaits you…

With Love and Artful Devotion,

Aurora

F.A.Q.

Yes! All of my trainings have a deep grounding in trauma informed care, practice and methodology. I also continue to deepen my understanding and widen my trauma education and am constantly expanding my capacity to hold safe enough space in a wide variety of ways. I am also in the process of transitioning from trauma informed to trauma qualified as I continue some extensive trauma trainings to hold my work and offerings, which I will be sharing more about soon!

Absolutely! At the heart of my work is the premise that your sexuality is sacred, and that with loving compassionate presence, you can come into connection, belonging and aliveness with your body, sexuality and pelvis. I believe that is truly every being’s birthright. Ultimately, as your Pelvic Priestess, I am devoted to your embodied-mystery!

Internal work is not recommended in pregnancy, however it is absolutely possible and can be incredibly supportive and nourishing for your journey during pregnancy and mama-hood to receive Holistic Pelvic Care™ energetically. We work with visualisation and gentle holistic tools to support the energy of your bowl medicine. I am also deepening in Mizan massage therapy during pregnancy, so there are many beautiful and grounded options to tend to your pelvic care with love, safety and belonging during pregnancy and mama life.

When we have experienced loss in our pelvic bowl, the imprints of grief, rage, shame and so much more unique to your own personal experience can be present. I personally experienced many losses, and my own journey with Holistic Pelvic Care™ has been one of honouring, grieving and restoring life to my pelvic bowl. I highly recommend Holistic Pelvic Care™ body and energy work if you are healing and integrating your experience of loss. We have truly lost the art of grief-tending in our communities, of being fully witnessed in our stages and experiences of loss. Physical and energetic touch can play a vital role in allowing us to process, co-regulate, and access our thriving.

Great question! Holistic Pelvic Care™ postpartum is recommended 6-8 weeks after your birth.  Postpartum care in the UK is in my opinion woeful and largely non-existent. Holistic Pelvic Care™ can be a part of the very real difference between postpartum recovery or postpartum pelvic problems.

It is essential that you have spaces in which to honour and integrate your birth story, sifting soft the significant shifts in your body, soothing and mobilising any remedial scar tissue, supporting your pelvic muscles to rest and repair, to ensure your long-term functional strength and integrity in your pelvic muscles and fascial networks.

Holistic Pelvic Care™ provides a space for somatic postpartum recovery, whatever your pregnancy and birth journey. Holistic Pelvic Care™ can be a necessary bridge in rebalancing the physical and energetic alignment of the pelvic bowl, supporting postpartum recovery in mind, body and spirit. Holistic Pelvic Care™ for postpartum recovery can also support you to clear any stagnation and pelvic congestion post birth, ensuring that you have optimal blood flow, supporting lymphatic drainage, supplying your nerves, tissues and bones with the nourishment they deserve to live a tuned in and turned on life!

Unfortunately, and quite unbelievably, trauma is woefully neglected in sexual and pelvic health. It is unlikely that any specialist has actually asked you about your trauma history sensitively. Our medical professionals are expertly trained and have valuable skills, however more often than not, trauma is a very minimal part of medical training. There is also a lack of whole-body, whole-person perspective in Western medicine, and we are paying the price for the overly medicalised interventions of medication and surgery for pelvic health issues, and the outdated reliance on talk therapies as a sole method of trauma healing. This is why trauma informed, somatic and holistic bodywork is truly revolutionary in terms of sexual healing and pelvic health.

We always centre your body permissions, consent and boundaries, and as always we can work with your needs and desires, physically and energetically. However, if you are open to intra-vaginal Holistic Pelvic Care™ during menstruation, this can actually be an exquisite time to enter bodywork. The increased circulation in your vaginal tissues, fascia and your often deeper inner awareness during your bleed, can support you during release and receptive work, facilitating deep release, integration and restoration.

I believe that your bleed is a sacred wisdom keeper. Deep in its red velvet richness are the codes of your creation. Your cyclical intelligence can be an exceptional source of your embodied wisdom and power. Your bleed can be one of your greatest allies in this work, calling you into relationship and reciprocity with your cyclical rhythms, and holding you accountable in the most profound ways. Your bleed is a body truth-sayer!

Cyclical awareness is something that I am deeply passionate about in all of my work. So please know that yes, it is safe and welcomed to come to a session if you are menstruating, and we always check in with the level of bodywork that you feel is appropriate for you. If you are working with Holistic Pelvic Care™ practices at home during your bleed, I would highly recommend purchasing a splash blanket as a supportive, comfortable and hygienic way for you to offer pelvic mapping in your moon-time should you desire.

All sessions take place at my therapy home, Suffolk Yoga, in Ipswich, unless otherwise agreed. I have a beautiful, quiet and peaceful private room with access to bathroom facilities. Suffolk Yoga’s ethos is one that my heart and womb can align with. The entire space and the offerings available are truly centred in a whole person, whole body, holistic somatic approach.

1 Sorrel Horse Mews
Grimwade Street
Ipswich IP4 1LN

Please note that parking is limited. Usually I can organise a space for you directly outside the building. However when this is not possible, parking is available during the day at Fore St Swimming Pool. Cut through St. Clements Church Lane to Grimwade Street and cross the road. We are located in the white building at the front of Sorrel Horse Mews. I will refund your parking payment for the 2 hour session.

Initially you will need to purchase the Holistic Pelvic Care™ Package, which consists of a 1-hour Intake Form Review Call (online), and three 2-hour in-person therapy sessions. Follow-up single sessions can then be purchased at any time within the next 12 months, and I offer a 25% discount on all Follow-up sessions.

Bodywork is, in my experience, very rarely a one-and-done. The Holistic Pelvic Care™ Package affords us time to establish connection with the bodywork that you are in need of, to be guided by your body and truly centre your own pelvic bowl experiences. The more that I deepen in my journey as a bodyworker, the more I begin to orient to the pace of the nervous system, in slow, artful and intentional ways. The treatments are woven with incremental intelligence and body literacy. For me, this way of listening and attuning in direct and receptive relationship makes it simply impossible and unkind to rush you through intimate bodywork in one stand-alone session.

Your pelvic bowl really is about how you are and who you are in your life. That means that so much can happen in 12 months, in the rhythms, imprints and sensory intelligence of your pelvic bowl, and this will affect how you are in your pelvic wellbeing, alignment, and vibrancy. For this reason, post the 12 month duration, I kindly ask you to purchase a further Holistic Pelvic Care™ Package to hold the work with care, self-responsibility, and self-love! Your pelvic bowl will thank you!

Absolutely! I understand that payment plans are essential for many people. I am committed to making this work available, accessible and equitable. My prices remain the same whether you can pay in full up-front or not. I will not charge you interest for having a payment plan. I offer a 'pay-in-three' monthly installments plan for all therapy packages, which is available to everyone.

Great question! This really depends on what your needs and desires are. Holistic Pelvic Care™ benefits a wide variety of pelvic health issues. Some people will benefit from receiving the three treatment sessions over the course of 3 months (one per month). Others may be better suited to taking the sessions bi-weekly. Don't worry beautyheart! I've got you! We will co-create a preliminary plan during your Intake Form Review, and will check in with each other at the end of each session and make any adjustments to the schedule as necessary.

Once you have purchased your initial Holistic Pelvic Care™ Package, if you need and desire more bodywork, you can purchase Follow-up sessions at a reduced rate of 25% off for 12 months post your initial treatment.

Holistic Pelvic Care™ alone may be sufficient for you to release, integrate and offer your pelvic bowl the restoration that you need, with love, safety and belonging.

However, for long-term pelvic imbalances, where you may be holding long held trauma and stress patterns, emotional blockages and sexual shame and pain, you may require deepening work to fully unwind, awaken and liberate your pelvic well-being.

My own sexual and pelvic healing journey has absolutely necessitated a multi-layered approach to create the embodied safety that I needed to claim my pelvic bowl as a space of resource, creativity and power.

I have spent the last decade integrating a wide range of sexuality, pelvic and bodywork practices to support your needs and desires. Should you choose, but completely without expectation, you are invited to deepen into a Pelvic Priestess pathway that meets you where you are. This may include coaching, bodywork, sacred sexuality practices, trauma release work. I am continually amazed by the human capacity to heal, and I consider it a privilege to share a thread of that journey with you.

Beautiful! I am so glad to hear that you are ready to answer the call and say yes to your journey. Let’s connect!

You are invited to book your FREE complimentary Pelvic Temple Call with me today, where we can learn a little more about each other, and begin to understand what you truly desire to work on in our sessions with regard to your pelvic and sexual health, addressing your most pressing needs and deepest desires. I will also gently hold space for your questions, and any concerns that you may have. This is a call for you to discover more about working with me. There is no obligation to sign up - I understand that commiting to working with any practitioner is a big decision, and it is imperative that we both feel resonant to work with each other and co-create the transformation, beauty and empowered change that you are desiring.

If we are aligned to working with each other, I will offer you a pathway that feels right for you. Your complimentary Pelvic Temple Call is 60 minutes long, and held over Zoom. You do not need to have your own Zoom account. When you book your Pelvic Temple Call, you will receive a link that invites you into my personal Zoom-womb!

Okay, let's wade through the bullshit that so often happens in these spaces! Quite simply, I believe the way that you identify. I also appreciate that can change and shift in the most beautiful and organic and creative ways possible. I believe in respecting that, which is why I believe you get to language and express yourself as you choose, and I will make every endeavour to support that. I have experienced containers that have injured my experiences and various identities, and I understand that this is a significant issue in sexual and pelvic healing that I intend to challenge on the deepest level.

I am also aware that your various identities, experiences and intersectionalities will not always be a part of my lived experience and vocabulary. I am in the work to dismantle the vestiges of patriarchy, colonialism, sexism, racism, homophobia and ableism. I accept that there will be times that I get things wrong, need to make repair, and ask better questions of myself. I am committed to continue to learn and discover ways to integrate healing the disconnection that systems of oppression have created.

Personally and professionally, I am continuing to uplevel my education and unpack the embodied politics of race, gender and sexuality in order to become a ‘safer space holder’ for BIPOC, queer, trans, and GE Folk. As a bodyworker, it is never my place to assert that I can hold safe space. Instead, I work on the premise that as a trauma-informed bodyworker, my commitment is to co-creating ‘safer space’ with the openness to learn, repair and grow.

I am also committed to ensuring that pelvic health care begins to language diversity. I am taking action to bring this into my own work and scope of practice. Please know that as a Pelvic-Priestess I am devoted to your embodied-mystery, and I will do my best to meet you in all of your intersectional whole person identities, deeply listening to how you wish to express and be compassionately met.
